Fully Restored Avenger Returns to the LSFM

October 2, 2020 @ 11:00 am - October 4, 2020 @ 5:00 pm

Fully operational TBM Avenger repainted in honor of President George H. W. Bush’s WWII aircraft returns to Lone Star Flight Museum!
The restoration project is complete! On Friday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., we invite the public to come see the fully restored Avenger. The torpedo bomber replicates Bush’s WWII aircraft that was shot down in 1944. Bush was rescued, but his two crew members did not survive. The paint restoration honors radioman Second Class John Delaney and turret gunner Lieutenant Junior Grade William “Ted” White with their names included on the aircraft, as well as the aircraft’s name, “Barbara III.”
The Avenger will be available for public viewing upon the museum’s opening on Friday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m., followed by weekend-long events celebrating its return to the museum collection.
