Birding Around Bay Area Houston

Experience Birding at its Best!

Bay Area Houston is part of the Clear Lake Loop portion of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, which includes more than 220 species of birds that flock to this area throughout the year. Grab your scope and binoculars and get ready for some of the best birdwatching of your life! In addition to the other 10 sites within the loop, ideal hotspots include the Dr. Ned & Fay Dudney Nature Center, Walter Hall Park, Pine Gully Park, Nassau Bay Park, Seabrook Wildlife Refuge and Challenger 7 Memorial Park.

Join birders across the globe on Valentine’s weekend

Spend time with your favorite person in your favorite place—whether it’s your backyard, a park, or a nature preserve—and count as many birds as you can find. Report your findings, and help scientists learn more about global bird populations. Kids can also join the fun and become citizen scientists. It’s recommended you spend at least 15 minutes searching for birds. You can submit one or more lists over the four days.
